Name the real concern
The worry is rarely about the number of friends. It is about whether a child will learn to work with people they did not choose, handle disagreement, speak in front of a group and build lasting friendships.
That can be designed for deliberately - but it will not happen by accident.
What families actually do
Social development usually comes from a small number of consistent commitments rather than many occasional ones.
- A weekly group class or co-op with the same peers
- A team sport or performing art with a fixed schedule
- Competitions, Olympiads or debate for structured challenge
- Volunteering and community involvement as the child gets older
- Online project collaboration with other homeschoolers
